Green Flag awards team encourages people to enjoy parks in winter

The Green Flag awards team is urging people to visit their local parks in the run-up to Christmas.

Green Flag award scheme manager Paul Todd is involved in a drive by Keep Britain Tidy — part of the consortium now running the awards with GreenSpace and BTCV — to encourage people into their local parks during winter.

The body is highlighting the range of events and activities being held in Green Flag parks and green spaces, including Colchester's Castle Park, which was this year awarded Briggs & Stratton's Britain's Best Park accolade.

Todd said: "Winter is a fantastic time to explore a local Green Flag park with so many events planned for all ages.

"Even if your local park doesn't have Christmas activities planned then you can still make the most of winter if you wrap up warm, head outside and create your own fun."

Events are listed on the new Green Flag website.

Generations of ordinary British people have been let down by weak, visionless leaders -- politicians more engaged by the next election than our national best interest.
