Gooseberry guide provides complete growing reference

The Horticultural Development Company (HDC) has produced a new guide for gooseberry growers, describing cultivation, varieties, pests and diseases and their control.

"The in-depth information will provide a reference point for the recurring problems in gooseberry plantations," said HDC soft fruit panel member and gooseberry grower Tom Maynard.

Author Scott Raffle, HDC communications manager, added: "We have done very little on gooseberries, but then they are a relatively minor crop."

The guide, complete with illustrations, is being posted to growers, but copies can be requested from Louise Arculus on 024 7647 8661 or email louise.arculus@hdc.ahdb.org.uk.
