Malvern Hill District Council has given the green light to proposals for a 2,200 home urban extension to south Worcester featuring space for woodland and wetland habitats, recreation, sports and food production.

The council’s resolution to grant follows approvals from Wychavon District Council and Worcester City Council, as the proposed neighbourhood is part of the three local authorities’ joint South Worcestershire development plan.

The design, by architect and masterplanner JTP for land specialist Wellbeck Strategic Land, provides homes, community uses and employment space.

These facilities will be focused around a neighbourhood centre converted from the site’s existing grade 2 listed farmhouse and barns.

The scheme’s green infrastructure framework includes space for woodland and wetland habitats, recreation, sports and food production, with the latter including allotments and orchards.
