He said: "Retailers need to show a clear and achievable-in-a-weekend project that is easy for the consumer."
Wheelbarrow Project themes include grow local, fashions, food, kids' gardening and vertical gardening.
Stanley added: "Nowadays, consumers are more discerning and have different wants and needs. What appeals to a 55-year-old gardener may not appeal to a 35-year-old garden lover who does not yet understand techniques of gardening. Identify what will appeal to this new, growing group of gardeners and draw them back into the garden centre and increase the average spend per customer."
