Gardeners' World viewing figures slip below two million

Gardeners' World has recorded fewer than two-million viewers for the third week in succession, according to the latest official figures.

The relaunched Monty Don-presented programme on BBC2 began strongly this spring with 2.5 million viewers, but has since slipped back to below the two-million mark, with viewing figures of between 1.9 million and 1.98 million.

Garden ER on Channel 5 has ended its run. The show peaked at 836,000 viewers but was out of the Channel 5 top 30 at fewer than 750,000 in recent weeks.

Meanwhile, Sarah Raven's new series Bees, Butterflies & Blooms, about the decline of insect pollinators and how gardeners can help reverse it, will be broadcast on BBC2 for three weeks starting on 21 September at 8pm. The producer is former Gardeners' World veteran Andy Vernon.
