Garden product supplier Solus takes on Grant Thornton to help find buyer

Solus has engaged financial and business advisory firm Grant Thornton to "build a strategic direction for the business" after the break down of talks with Scotts about a takeover.

Grant Thornton is dealing with enquiries and interest which came through while Solus was in negotiation with Scotts.

Scotts and Bayer have withdrawn from trading with Solus but other companies Solus wholesales such as Fiskars, Town and Country, RSPB and Neudorff are still on board.

Solus chief executive officer Mark Pearson said: "We are in discussions with several trade and financial partners. Clearly, as we are now in peak season, it is important for all parties concerned that we conclude any discussions as quickly as possible.

"I want to thank those long-standing retail partners of Solus who have sent some excellent messages of support. It is great they are continuing to buy in volume from our Solus own-brand ranges.

"We are fully stocked and the promotions we are launching now will be backed up by further special offers over the next two weeks - perfect to maximise the opportunity of a good growing season and set up for what we hope will be a great summer."
