Currently Forest Garden head of gardening, Nuttall will take over the role from Neil Gow when he steps down in the new year.

She has acted as president since the last GIMA annual general meeting and has served on the council for six years.

GIMA past president, Nigel Thompson of Stewarts Plastics, who chaired the recruitment process said: "After interviewing a very strong shortlist of candidates, Vicky was selected and we are delighted that she has accepted the role.

"Having worked in a sales and marketing environment in our industry for nearly 13 years, Vicky is well aware of the issues facing suppliers in today’s market. Since been elected president she has more than demonstrated her ability to run our association and move it on to its next stage of development."

Nuttall said that Gow had "done some fantastic work over the last seven years" and said she hoped to match his enthusiasm.

She will continue as president until early next year.
