Garden centre helps designer with plant knowledge

TV gardener and designer Chris Beardshaw and Cleeve Nursery & Garden Centre have been helping young Bristol-based designer Lindsay Anglin to improve her plant knowledge.

Anglin has been working in the plant-growing section and retail departments of Cleeve.

She won the Chris Beardshaw Mentoring Scholarship, sponsored by Bradstone, after competing against other designers at the Malvern Spring Gardening Show 2008.

As part of the scholarship, Anglin designed and built a gold-medal-winning garden for the Malvern Autumn Show in September, and is now working on a Chelsea show garden, using plants from Cleeve.

Cleeve owner Alan Down said: "I was immediately impressed with Lindsay's professional approach in her plant selection when she came to us as a trade customer in the run up to the Malvern Spring Gardening Show. I was not at all surprised when she was selected by Chris as his first scholarship student.

"We were delighted to be selected by the HTA and Chris Beardshaw to help Lindsay gain knowledge of all the plants that we grow."
