Garden Centre Association regional winners announced

The Garden Centre Association (GCA) has this week revealed the best in area garden centre winners at three awards presentation evenings for North Thames, South Thames and Wales and the West.

Results for the Wales and the West were announced on July 9, North Thames on July 10 and South Thames on July 11 at award events in the areas.

GCA chairman Peter Burks said:

"We are delighted to have announced our winners for the three areas this week and would like to congratulate all our members who picked up awards. It is a reflection of all their hard work and dedication to excellence, and they should all be very proud of the achievements."

Winners of the best garden centre were: Endsleigh Garden & Leisure (over £4m turnover) in Devon and The Old Railway Line Garden Centre (under £4m turnover) in Powys for Wales and the West, Poplars Garden Centre (over £4m) in Bedfordshire and Sunshine Garden Centre (under £4m) in London for North Thames.

Haskins Roundstone Garden Centre (over £4m) in West Sussex and Squires Shepperton Garden Centre (under £4m) in Middlesex picked up the prizes for South Thames

The overall winners will be announced at the GCA annual conference (January 27-29, 2013.)

The winners of the Best Plant Department were Trelawney at Wadebridge (over £4m) in Cornwall and The Old Railway Line Garden Centre (under £4m) for Wales and the West, Burston Garden Centre (over £4m) in Hertfordshire and Sunshine Garden Centre (under £4m) for North Thames and Haskins Roundstone Garden Centre (over £4m) and Squires Hersham Garden Centre (under £4m) in Surrey for North Thames.

Other presentations are at the Midlands on July 17, the North East and North West on July 19 and Scotland and Northern Ireland on August 22.

Best Restaurant: Trelawney at Wadebridge and Endsleigh Garden & Leisure  and Rosemoor Plant Centre

Best Gardening Retailer & GIMA Award: Endsleigh Garden & Leisure and The Old Railway Line Garden Centre

Best Lifestyle Retailer: Cadbury Garden & Leisure and Raglan Garden Centre

Most Improved: Endsleigh Garden & Leisure and Rosemoor Plant Centre

Best Display: Trelawney at Ashford

Best O/S Achievement: Whitehall Garden Centre, Lacock

Best Point of Sale: Raglan Garden Centre.

 

North Thames

Best Garden Centre: Poplars Garden Centre and Sunshine Garden Centre

Best Plant Department: Burston Garden Centre and Sunshine Garden Centre

Best Service and Facilities: Frosts at Willington Garden Centre and Podington Garden Centre

Best Pets and Aquatics: Burston Garden Centre and Podington Garden Centre

Best Food Hall: Frosts at Woburn Sands and Van Hage Chenies

Best Restaurant: Frosts at Woburn Sands, Poplars Garden Centre and Van Hage Great Amwell and Frosts at Brampton

Best Gardening Retailer & GIMA Award: Burston Garden Centre and Sunshine Garden Centre

Best Lifestyle Retailer: Poplars Garden Centre and Sunshine Garden Centre

Most Improved: Perrywood and Squires Stanmore Garden Centre

Best Display: Burston Garden Centre

Best O/S Achievement: Sunshine Garden Centre

Best Point of Sale: Burford Garden Company.

 

South Thames
