Thanks to an anonymous donor the first phase of the lighting project has now received the go ahead.
Costing in excess of £100,000, the first phase will be handled by UK lighting specialists, Marl Lighting, and will see the garden’s hornbeam pergolas fitted with a state of the art lighting system, "transforming the dark evenings into a spectacle of white and blue light", a statement said.
The Duchess of Northumberland said:
"This is the first phase of a permanent, flexible installation which will bring the garden to life in the evenings and during the winter months. It will be magical at Christmas and the lights can be enjoyed from the pavilion without needing to go outside."
With this latest development targeting the after dark market, the Duchess hopes to attract additional tourism to the region during the winter months.
