UK cider sales jumped 23 per cent in value for the period June-August compared with summer 2012, with fruit-flavoured products accounting for most of the rise, according to market analyst Nielsen.

Its figures showed growth of over 50 per cent for Bulmers Red Berries & Lime (formerly Bulmers No17), Strongbow Pear and Kopparberg Mixed Fruit.

Meanwhile Strongbow Dark Fruit, launched by parent company Heineken in May, has already racked up sales of £12million.

Heineken UK marketing director Jacco van der Linden said: "Strongbow is uniquely placed both to expand this sub-segment and to drive overall category growth."
