Orkney Islands Council is offering ££1,200,000 for grounds maintenance services.

A contractor is sought to provide grounds maintenance services across the Orkney mainland, linked south isles and Hoy. Tasks will include grass cutting, strimming, weed control, maintenance of planting including shrubs and small trees.

The contract will run from 1 April 2022 until 31 March 2026 with the option to extend for a further 12 months (subject to performance criteria being met).

The closing date for receipt of expressions of interest is 14 January 2022.

#Forestry and Land Scotland has released a five-year deer management tender. FLS says there are up to 150 million young trees vulnerable to damage from deer – and estimate the cost of the damage done is in the region of £3 million annually. Valued at around £25m-£31m for the five-year period (£18m - £24m net value after venison sales), the tender will establish a range of contracts that will help deliver a professional cull of more than 150,000 deer.
