Four Oaks Nursery co-founder Arthur Coutts dies

Arthur Coutts, the co-founder of Four Oaks Nursery with his brother Stuart, has died aged 87.

His funeral is on Thursday 21 December at 3.15pm at Vale Royal Crematorium, Shurlach Lane, Davenham, Northwich CW9 8RP.

Four Oaks Nursery was set up in 1964 by the brothers. They pioneered use of supplementary lighting in bedding growing.

They set up Four Oaks trade day in 1971, which became Four Oaks Trade Show in 1979, with Pat Coutts in charge.

Richard Harding bought the business in 2002 and the show remains a prominent fixture on the horticultural calendar.
