A solar-powered nursery hot-water system from Skaino Services that was described by judges as a model system for the future took the overall prize for "best of the best" at Tuesday's Four Oaks Trade Show Awards.

With 138 entries from the exhibitors it was the biggest competition yet seen at the event. The large number of entries also reflected a record-breaking exhibitor attendance at the show this year, which featured 474 suppliers in total.

The judging panel for the awards consisted of garden writer Graham Clarke (chair), consultant Eve Tigwell and Grosvenor Garden Centre's Pete Davis.

The winners were presented with their awards at an event hosted by Horticulture Week at the show on Tuesday evening.
