Former BIGGA chair Gordon Child honoured

Gordon Child was presented with BIGGA's Lifetime Achievement Award at the BTME on Tuesday.

Before retiring, he was a successful manager at top courses and the only former BIGGA chairman to have competed in two British Open Championships.

Greg Evans, Stuart Yarwood, Alan Pierce and Alan Hess were named master greenkeepers, while Colin Webber won a Golf Environment award.

Machrihanish Golf Club and Auchterarder Golf Club became the first UK courses to achieve the Golf Environment Organisation's "GEO certified" status.
