Forestry Commission plans tree restocking in Wales

The Forestry Commission is planning a major project to restock trees throughout Wales.

The organisation is setting up a framework agreement that will last four years, worth around £1.6m.

The agreement is divided into 15 geographical areas and up to 45 firms will be appointed to the framework. The work will include restocking of broad-leaves and conifers and each area could require at least 600,000 trees over the contract period. Contact Matthew Park at matthew.park@forestry.gsi.gov.uk.

The body also plans to set up a framework agreement for herbicide spraying of restocked areas that is valued at between £136,000 and £548,000. Contact islwyn.jones@forestry.gsi.gov.uk.

Another contract for electrodyne treatment of bareroot planting stock at the Forestry Commission's Maesnewyddion depot near Betws y Coed, North Wales, is also available, along with collection of plants from Cheshire-based Delamere Nursery and delivery of plants across Wales. Email tony.westley@forestry.gsi.gov.uk. The deadline for all contracts is 18 November.
