He retired from his sales role at Floramedia in October 2013 and was looking forward to enjoying a busy spring season of gardening.
Halsey worked as a photographer and printer as well as in retail sales before joining Burall Floraprint in 1994 as a sales executive.
Floramedia managing director Nick Mathias said: "With the demise of Burall in 2007, he became a very welcome member of the Floramedia team, where he brought a very well-received sense of humour as well as many years of experience and his knowledge of horticultural labelling.
"He was involved in the early days of bringing colour labelling to container plant sales, something taken for granted now. He saw the evolution of digital design and publishing, with the replacement of film transparencies with digital images. Tony built up lifelong relationships with many of his customers."
