Flood warnings issued as heavy rain set to continue

The Environment Agency has issued 23 flood warnings and 75 flood watches around the country following heavy weekend rainfall.

Rain hit most parts of the country over Saturday night with worst hit areas being Wales and the Midlands – Capel Curig in Conwy, North Wales was worst hit with nearly 5cm of rain in 12 hours.

The Met Office is expecting cloud cover over much of the country by this afternoon with heavy rainfall expected on Tuesday.

Wednesday is expected to be clear and sunny with wet and windy weather coming back during Thursday and Friday, remaining drier in the South East.
