Farplants launches labelling featuring 'Bee-Friendly' logo

West-Sussex based Farplants Sales Ltd has introduced labelling featuring a Bee-Friendly logo.

Farplants has decided to put the Bee-Friendly logo on hundreds of its plants in 2011, following Sarah Raven’s bee seminar at the inaugural 2010 HTA National Plant Show.

Drawing on information provided by the British Bee Keepers Association, the company have put the logo on a third of its plants.

Marketing manager Neil Robertson said:  "We tried hard to make this logo look appealing rather than scary as we did not want to put the public off buying these varieties.

"When we previewed the labels to some retailers, their support was enthusiastic, saying that these labels would be welcomed by the public."

The company plans to supply garden centres with bed cards highlighting what gardeners can do to help the plight of the bees.
