The Explorer II is designed to operate in conjunction with a train of three 24-person carriages to tour the gardens. Hampshire Iveco dealer Hendy Van & Truck supplied the vehicle, a Daily 35C12 AGile chassis cab converted by Electromec Services in Southampton. Kew Explorer manager Mary Done said the service has been running for 10 years and the unit needed renewal. The Explorer II can carry up to 72 passengers, with space for pushchairs and a wheelchair.
