Experts gear for a major meeting of minds

One of the biggest parks conferences for several years launches next week with talkers including Eden Project’s Tim Smit, Cabe Space director Julia Thrift and planning minister Keith Hill.

Great Parks, Great Cities run by Green Spaces, which incorporates the Urban Parks Forum, will include tours of London’s most famous parks and green spaces as well as a few hidden gems. Smit will give a keynote presentation on the relationship between people, places and nature and Thrift will look at good practices from across the world. Meanwhile MP Keith Hill will give a rundown of the deputy PM John Prescott’s Sustainable Communities plan. Other speakers will include Cabe’s Alan Barber, writer Ken Worpole and EDAW’s Jason Prior. The conference runs from 10 to 13 July at various venues including the Queen Elizabeth II Conference Centre. Evening events will include jazz in Westminster Abbey College Garden. - Contact: 0118 946 9068,,
