Expert evidence helps Wadlow Wind Farm secure approval following appeal

A wind farm in South Cambridgeshire has been granted planning approval following a public inquiry that involved expert evidence from LDA Design.

The consultancy acted as expert witness on behalf of client RES and carried out the original landscape and visual impact assessment for Wadlow Wind Farm, which will consist of 13 turbines.

An application was rejected by South Cambridgeshire District Council in 2007. This was followed by the successful appeal, with permission granted last month.

LDA Design partner Colin Goodrum said: "We are delighted that this scheme has received consent and that the inspector concurred with the findings of the original assessment. Wadlow Farm will make a significant contribution to achieving the East of England's renewable energy targets."

RES project manager David Cox added: "We are very pleased to have planning consent at last, and LDA Design played a significant role in helping us achieve a positive outcome at the inquiry."

Construction is due to start next year. On completion, the wind farm will generate enough electricity for around one-third of all South Cambridgeshire's homes.
