Exhibition directory scam victim comes forward

The Processors and Growers Research Organisation (PGRO) has come forward as one of the many organisations affected by an exhibition directory scam.

PGRO chief executive Salvador Potter has said that he has been a victim of a scam run by a company called Construct Data originally operating from Mexico, then Vienna and now the Slovak Republic.

The scam asks exhibitors at trade shows to sign up it its online directory before sending them a large bill. Potter said he still receives legal threats from the company but has not paid any money out.

A similar scam, run by the Mexico-based Expo Guide organisation has affected exhibitors at Four Oaks and other shows.

Information for those affected by the scams can be found at http://stopecg.org/construct_data_fairguide.htm and http://www.energygrid.com/watchdog/2008/11-expoguide.html.
