Overview

The main objective of the conference is to share knowledge, experience, methodological breakthroughs and new solutions in the area of IPM, with respect to the Directive 2009/128/ EC. IPM is the coordinated and integrated use of different strategies and tactical measures, deployed at various scales aiming to control plant pests and diseases (plant pathogens, animal pests, weeds) in the most effective and economic way with special emphasis on the reduction of risks to farmers and consumers’ health; as well as environment, and biodiversity.

The congress will present and discuss the accomplishments of the European Project “Pesticide Use-and-risk Reduction in European farming systems with Integrated Pest Management” – PURE. Within the framework of the project, new methods, tools and technologies have been developed and IPM solutions designed and tested in various European regions for major cropping systems (wheat-based rotations, maize-based cropping systems, field vegetables, grapevine, pome fruit, and protected vegetables).
