Euro rates force hire firm closure

Currency fluctuations have forced Arborplant, a specialist tree-kit hire firm and maker of stump grinders, to stop trading.

The six-staff firm based in Henley on Thames, Oxfordshire, hired out woodchippers and tracked-access platforms, and also made stump grinders.

"The company went into liquidation and it was to do with the euro rates," said former hire manager Brian Griffin, who worked for managing director Patrick Watts.

Griffin bought equipment and hired the same premises to launch new firm DBM-Hire. He is the new managing director and works with service director David Bolwell.

The DBM-Hire workshop services and repairs several brands of kit and also handles commercial forestry equipment.
