Essex horticulturists off to Wembley

Alton Garden Centre director Andy Bunker is leading a group of growers to watch Southend United in a cup final on 7 April.

Bunker said: "My beloved Southend United Football Club are going to Wembley for the final of the Johnston’s Paint Trophy – an equivalent to the FA Cup for lower leagues.

"Michael Smith from WD Smith's and myself are sponsoring a coach and taking all of our staff.

"Also coming with us are Bridge Nursery, so this is certainly a very Essex-based horticultural do and we are sponsoring a lovely lot of blue and white planters. We're growing to Wembley!"

"Bunker said it would be the first Sunday, apart from Easter Sunday, he has taken off for 35 years."
