Energy costs drive diversification among growers in this year's Top 20 Glasshouse Salad Growers

In 2023, there was a 10% reduction in the area of tomatoes grown compared to the previous year, driven by high energy costs. This resulted in growers diversifying into other glasshouse crops to mitigate risks in a less profitable tomato market, according to the British Tomato Growers Association.
