Eastwood Tree Services of Ipswich carried out the work on behalf of Telford-based Amenity Land Solutions (ALS), which supplied the products used to treat the tree.
The National Trust property's head gardener Adrian Lovatt pointed out that leaf yellowing had been noted initially on the 9m-high yew 10 years ago. Lab tests on the leaves, roots and surrounding soil had produced a clean bill of health, leading to the conclusion that the tree was suffering from physiological stress caused by severe soil compaction around the roots.
Eastwood Tree Services completed a Terravention process, including using a Terravent machine to blast pressurised gas into the soil through a steel probe.
