The show was held in conjunction with the HTA's water workshop, which helped bring in people from further afield to check out the latest offerings for autumn and the 2010 season.
Show organiser Sue Foster said: "Everyone seemed very pleased and it all went very well. I should think numbers are probably 50 per cent up on last year."
The award for best new product went to New Place Nurseries for its Cistus x hybridus 'Little Miss Sunshine', which picked up the best new plant award at last month's Kildare Growers Show in Ireland (HW, 7 August).
New Place Nurseries has exclusive liner rights for the plant, which emerged as a sport on mother stock at L&K Dunne Nurseries in Naas, Kildare, four years ago. Sales director Steven Lee said: "It is great to pick up the award - great for the plant, for us and for Dunne."
The prize for best overall stand went to World Plants for its display of grasses and ferns, while the best non-nursery exhibitor prize was picked up by seed and grain merchant EW King & Co.
World Plants owner John Webb said: "Winning the award is fabulous. We have been coming to EastGro for many years and I think this is probably the best one ever, certainly for us. We have a full autumn order book, confirmed sales for next year and two major new clients."
The company also announced it would be launching a range of Heuchera for next season.
Webb added: "We wanted something that would blend in with our existing range of ferns and grasses so we trialled a few varieties and the heucheras really romped away."
