Dobbies reports resin animal sales up 95 per cent

Sales of gnomes at Dobbies Garden Centres across the UK are up 73 per cent on last year and sales of other stone-clad garden characters, such as ornamental woodland animals, have risen by 95 per cent.

Dobbies’ most popular gnome is Solus's ‘Woodland Wilf – Born to be Wild’ and their most popular garden characters are ‘Kingfisher on the Bulrushes’ followed by the squirrel ‘Crystal Twister Silver Red’.

Head of horticulture Steve Guy said: "Sales of gnomes have been soaring this year as people declare their love for our colourful garden friends.

"There’s a definite trend for garden ornaments as people try to use quirky, fun, characters to add a bit of personality to their garden."

The Garden Centre Group said they it sold £1m of resin animals from Vivid Arts last year.
