Dobbies garden centres set to build at Speke

The large-scale £8m Dobbies Garden World set to be built in Speke is to be granted approval by Liverpool City Council this week.

The building at the heart of the environmentally-friendly development on Speke Boulevard will be constructed from sustainably-sourced timber and will feature energy efficient lighting systems and rainwater recycling.

Dobbies has already acquired the 8.78-acre site from Peel.

Dobbies said the plan will then be referred to the Government Office for the North West for them to consider whether it throws up any issues that need to be debated at a national level with a public enquiry. But Dobbies said this has never happened before and the group doesn't anticipate it here.
