Design seminar to look at gardens for work and relaxation

Spaces in universities, schools and hospitals to work or relax in are key themes of the Society of Garden Designers' autumn conference.

International speakers including Dan Pearson, Marni Barnes, Helle Nebelong and Wendy Titman will reveal differences in approaches to the design of these gardens during the event, entitled Privately Public: the Healing and Learning Garden.

The day will highlight the ways in which these gardens differ from the domestic garden and the public park. Topics will include Maggie's Centre at London's Charing Cross Hospital.

The conference, to be chaired by Sensory Trust director Jane Stoneham, is at Imperial College on 4 October, from 9.50am to 5.30pm.
