Dead bird found in Tesco salad pack

A family were aghast to find a dead bird in the pre-packed salad they were eating.

Paul Streeter from Weare, Somerset, said his girlfriend was sick after finding the bird, described as "decomposed and skeletal", in a bag of baby leaf and rocket salad bought in the Burnham-on-Sea branch of Tesco.

A Tesco representative said: "We take matters of this kind extremely seriously and are very disappointed to learn of this incident."

The company has not disclosed the source of the pre-packed salad.
