Cultivation of GM crops axed in Northern Ireland

Northern Ireland has followed Scotland's lead in banning the cultivation of GM crops. Environment minister Mark Durkan made the announcement last week following an EU decision to permit member states or their devolved authorities to opt out of growing approved GM crops within their territories.
