Council tree maintenance contract up for grabs in West Midlands

A West Midlands local authority is inviting tenders for a £450,000, two-year tree maintenance contract.

Nuneaton and Bedworth Borough Council is tendering to implement a single contractor Framework Agreement to manage trees within parks, open spaces, housing communal areas, cemeteries and closed churchyards, playing fields and other amenity areas.

The work will mainly involve crown restoration and formative pruning, removal of basal and epicormic growth, crown thinning, lifting, reduction and re-shaping, deadwood removal, ivy and climber control, felling, (re)pollarding and stump treatment and removal.

The contract will run from 1 November 2019 to 31 October 2021 and is subject to renewal.

Lying within Warwickshire, the borough covers an area of 79km2. Green infrastructure includes some 30 parks. The borough's three destination parks together cover an area of over 120 hectares offering sports facilities and play areas, formal gardens and wildlife areas with rivers, lakes, grassland and woods.
