Council installs parks defibrillators

Leicester City Council is installing life-saving defibrillators in five of its biggest parks after the sudden death of a local teenager.

Joe Humphries, 14, collapsed and died of Sudden Adult Death Syndrome (SADS) while jogging near his home.

Evidence showed that Humphries might have survived if he had been treated within minutes of falling ill.

The council has purchased five of the machines - at a cost of £5,980 – and trained parks staff members in thier use.
