A not-to-be missed live interview with Cooling will round-off a morning packed with learning and insight for delegates.
The day kicks off with a keynote address from John Cleland who took over as chief executive officer of Dobbies in 2016 and will be unveiling his vision for the business at the Summit which is hosted by Horticulture Week.
Delegates will also hear from a panel of independent garden centre directors who will share learning from their latest investments and developments in their outlets, while Andy Newman of mdj2 will examine the trends emerging from 18 months of investment in the garden retail sector - and an influx of new leaders in the industry.
Kicking of the afternoon sessions, Martin Breddy, who joined Squires Garden Centre Group as MD in 2016, will join Blue Diamond's Alan Roper, mdj2's Clive Daley, Lolly Lee and Tillington’s Andy Bunker on a panel which will tackle how retailers can manage the impact of price increases in imported goods, changes in economic conditions, pressures on key supply chains and more. The Preparing for Brexit panel will be chaired by Management Today’s Andrew Saunders.

Meanwhile Steve Guy who leads Dobbies’ buying operation, will join Blue Diamond MD Alan Roper, Barnsfold Nurseries representatives and former BPOA chair Ian Riggs on a panel focusing on what retailers really want from UK growers. As the cost of importing plants increases, opting for a higher percentage of British-grown stock will become increasingly attractive. What do British retail plant suppliers need to do to grasp this opportunity for growth and import substitution?
