Contractors invited to forum on horticultural skills

Contractors have been invited to attend a forum on 1 April on horticultural training and skills development at Stoneleigh, Warwickshire.

Consultants Bob Ivison and Mike Fitt are running the day, which is related to CABE Space's national skills strategy Skills to Grow and GreenSpace's Green Flag Awards.

Ivison said: "We want to get sector commitment to help develop horticulture skills within that sector. It is no longer entirely down to local government to give horticulture skills training because 50 per cent of the (parks) workforce is with contractors and not directly employed by local authorities."

Speakers include CABE Space head of public space management Nicole Collomb and GreenSpace chief executive Paul Bramhill.
