Construction worker killed on garden-centre site

A construction worker has died while working on the expansion of Inverness garden centre Simpsons.

Andrew Brown was crushed under a steel beam while he was unloading metal from a J Paterson haulage lorry at the garden centre.

Simpsons Garden Centre representative Andrew Simpson said: "This is obviously a terrible accident and our thoughts are with the family of the man involved.

"We are co-operating fully with the Health & Safety Executive to establish exactly what happened."

Police and the Health & Safety Executive are carrying out inquiries into the incident.
