City & Guilds NPTC chainsaw standards aim to address industry needs

City & Guilds NPTC will release a new suite of chainsaw qualifications on 1 November.

The latest qualifications have been revised following consultation to ensure they best meet industry needs.

They will encompass the revised National Occupational Standards and will meet the requirements of the new Qualifications & Credit Framework.

A unit for Damaged Tree Operations (CS50) has also been introduced, predominantly to meet the needs of the local authority sector dealing with emergency damage.

The documentation for the new qualifications will be available for training providers and employers at www.nptc.org.uk from the end of October. The existing suite of chainsaw qualifications will be open for registrations until 31 December 2009 and candidates registered prior to that date will have until 31 December 2011 to complete their assessments.
