Cellular paving offers drought planting idea

Landscapers looking for ways of easing design limitations caused by drought are being targeted with an interlocking paver that retains water.

Terram said its new BodPave 85 pavers were made of an interlocking cellular structure that could be filled with soil and seed to create a natural grass surface. The cells would retain water to help promote growth.

"Landscapers are looking to new technologies to boost the longevity of grassed areas," said a spokeswoman. "Good irrigation is a vital element of any landscaping project. Porous pavers offer good drainage options and in drought conditions can help support water retention."

Made from polymer, BodPave 85 is suitable for grassed and gravel retention, as well as applications for sustainable drainage, she said.
