Campey pump aids golf club's water management

Mottram Hall Golf Club's latest buy can clear flooding or move irrigation water at the flick of a switch.

Chiefs at Mottram Hall Golf Club said they now had precise control of the water on its course thanks to the TrunkPump.

Estate and golf course manager Stuart Stenhouse said:

"We needed something portable and versatile that could move large or small quantities of water."

Mottram Hall has a 7,006-yard (6,406m) par72 championship course designed by David Thomas, also responsible for the Brabazon course at the Belfry.

Campey Turf Care's TrunkPump has a flexible discharge hose engage and a pump that fired up in less than 30 seconds, he said.

Stenhouse used the pump to suck water out of an irrigation lake and to clear bunkers. Its compactness enabled him to use it almost anywhere, he said.

TrunkPump can move 280 gallons of water per minute and runs unsupervised.

"We set it up, turn it on and leave it to work. You don't have constantly fill it up with petrol as it lasts longer with the tractor's diesel engine."
