CABE Space workshop to tackle Big Society implications for green leaders

Design watchdog CABE Space is to try and translate what the coalition's Big Society will mean for parks and green spaces and those who run them.

The free one-day workshop for local authority parks and green space managers will look at the Big Society challenge of working effectively with communities.

Speakers will advise green leaders how to engage with local people more effectively, and include Nick Wates, author of The Community Planning Handbook.

"The event on 19 October will look at translating the big society - what it means for parks and green spaces," said a CABE Space representative.

Green chiefs will look at approaches to community engagement, from strategy to delivery, and how to understand your community.

Delegates at Foresight Centre at the University of Liverpool will tackle issues of community ownership and management of green spaces.
