GreenTech is a new two-yearly trade show for the horticulture technology sector, held at the RAI exhibition centre in Amsterdam on 10-12 June, at the opening of which the award winners will be announced.

The awards jury, drawn from trade bodies and the international media, selected six candidates in the equipment category and six in the production category, from a long-list of 53 entries.

The Humberside firm's Agrotas 2344 fabric is designed to sit below ground level where it absorbs water and so provides continuous moisture to the crop.

Other nominees in the category include an insulated diffused-light glasshouse design, a field crop sprayer and a coir block decompressor.

Jury chairman Aalt Dijkhuizen said: "It was especially good to see that there were many solutions with technology and technological innovations that could substantially increase the productivity of crops while reducing the footprint. This is exactly what we need to meet the growing demand for food, without increasing the burden on nature, environment and climate."
