Falkland in Scotland retained its title of Champion of Champions in the RHS 2010 Britain in Bloom Awards, which included 1,100 communities and 66 finalists. Britain in Bloom chair Roger Burnett said volunteer work was "the best example" of prime minister David Cameron's "Big Society" in action.
Discretionary public park award-winner Bristol Zoo Gardens became the first zoo to be honoured since the RHS took over the awards in 2002 (see p20).
