The team behind Brett Landscaping, which launched an approved installer scheme this year, said new regulations within the domestic hard landscaping industry had increased the public's need for information, reassurance and high-quality services.
According to the firm, many homeowners were unaware that new regulations meant they must apply for planning permission or choose sustainable drainage solutions such as permeable paving for new driveways.
Brett Landscaping managing director Chris Droogan said: "The temptation for homeowners to choose cheaper, less-qualified installers is understandable in times of economic uncertainty.
"However, it can be a false economy if they receive sub-standard work. When this happens the reputation of the entire industry can suffer."
