BRC study reveals community efforts

Garden centres' involvement in their local communities is highlighted in the British Retail Consortium's (BRC) new report, Retail in Society - Serving Our Communities.

With an introduction by the HTA, garden centres featured include Aylett Nurseries, which runs a growing club for children and Burford Garden Centre, which helps charities. Also mentioned are Carr Farm Garden Centre, which runs Alzheimer's Society meetings on-site and Cleeve Nursery's work with schools and youth groups.

Fermoy's is listed for it competition for children to grow vegetables and Webbs of Wychbold for fundraising days for charity, as is Dob- bies, which runs a bursary campaign for community groups, projects, schools and charities.
