Bramley campaign set to utilise social media

The centrepiece of this year's Bramley Apple Campaign will be the Great Bramley Bake In, a social media-based consumer competition.

Home cooks are being asked to submit their best Bramley dishes, which can be sweet or savoury and either new recipes or reworkings of existing ones - so long as Bramleys form a central part.

Entries can be made via the campaign's Facebook page, where the public can also vote for their preferred dish, until 28 February.

TV chef Phil Vickery will be the public face of the campaign and will lead a panel of judges who will test the top 50 entries, reducing them to a shortlist of six from which the public will decide the winner, again via Facebook.

Vickery said: "I hope the competition inspires people of all abilities to take a fresh look at the potential of such an iconic British ingredient."
