An elderly couple had cash stolen from their home after they were conned by two men posing as tree surgeons.
The thieves called at the couple's property in Caddington, near Luton, and asked they wanted their trees trimming.
One man followed the elderly woman into her caravan while she telephoned the site manager while the other kept her husband talking outside. When the couple went back into their home they found a purse containing cash was missing.
Detective Sergeant Jo Dyer from Bedfordshire Police said one offender was black, aged around 37, 5' 8" tall and slim. The second was white, about 36, 5' 10" tall and stocky. The pair, who carried no tools, escaped through bushes at the rear of the property following the theft on 17 August.
She added: "This incident highlights the continuing importance of being cautious with cold callers."
