Body language of trees verses man could hold the key to tree-assessment evaluation

Arboriculture Pioneer Claus Mattheck is to compare people with trees in the esoteric realm of body language.

The author of the landmark book The Body Language of Trees will deliver his mind-stretching talk later this month at a visual tree assessment update seminar.

Mattheck, who published his highly influential handbook 16 years ago and saw it become an industry standard, will give an overview of his three-stage assessment approach.

The seminar for the Arboricultural Association Scottish branch will cover new research including shape optimisation, crack assessment, wind shaving and slope testing.

The talk in Perthshire on 21 May will also look at the latest thinking on pruning and high-risk shear cracks before touching on the left-field subject of body language.
